Gall wasps score direct hit

I was unloading a jon boat from back of truck and could hear a slow cracking noise from above, and then it fell. Right on top of a 16 foot utility trailer I just purchased and was restoring. Limbs loaded with galls. Dangerous to even be outdoors. Easy farwood if it don't kill me first. Attachment 169990

Call me ignorant, but what are Galls?

The galls caused by the wasp form on branches making extra weight, limbs strip and break off, tree slowly dies. Serious epidemic here south, no cure.

The only thing I know to do to cut down on damage at ones house is as soon as you find them forming on a tree is to bit the bullet and go ahead and cut the tree down.
