Reading that made me mad. I ain't never gonna get what I paid in. Then I get penalized for asking for what I put in a couple of years early. DP

Well I ain't retired yet but in 9.5 year I will be eligible to retire at 45 years old and draw my retirement when I hit that day it will be a month by month decision for me. Worst case I will stay another 8 years and not work a day past 33 year at my current employer go find me some easy job couple days a week to have extra spending money if needed. Seen too many coworkers die from job related cancer just a few years months even weeks after retiring. If I decide to stay 33 years I will retire drawing what my salary was of my last 3 years depending if I chose a plan that supports my wife after I pass on. But in the case she passes before me it will revert back to 100% for me.
3 more years to go if all works out right...
55 and that was almost 20 years ago.
I left the working world 2 yrs ago at the age of 60. I will begin drawing SS in August at the age of 62. Yes you take a cut at SS for leaving at 62 but when you look at the difference in what you draw and what you would draw over time waiting is not worth the extra years of working. I know that a person can find enough to do if they are interested in staying busy. Myself once this summer is over I will have most of the equipment I need in place in my shop. From the stuff I have built in the past I believe I can more than make up the money I lose from SS and work when I want to. The rest of the time I will be fishing.
55 . would lose money if I had stayed . Taking more ,paying out less . See ya !
We all are allotted a certain number of sunrises and sunsets, certain number of springs to catch them crappie on the spawn or fall to down that Buck. I say go when you can...I have worked 28 years and still not rich, so I figure I'm not getting rich in my senior years. September 2015, I will live my life on my terms, instead of someone else's. Live within my means, enjoy chasing them crappie and not take any day for granted.
Amen
I retired at age 53 .....16 years ago.....been enjoying every minute of it........just nice being on your own schedule.
Well, I have my "application" for retirement in hand. I had no idea it is so complicated to retire from the government. If things go as planned my last day will be Oct. 31. If I could stand to work another 3 years I would earn nearly $10K more per year in retirement, but there may be a lot of trade offs that outweigh the difference. Decisions, decisions. After I'm retired maybe I will share some of the truly stupid things my employer has done that affect all of us-you would be shaking your heads if you knew the half of it.
