I did work for a company in Longview,Tx years ago that recieved materias into the plant on pallets that were of a size they could not reuse. So they would give them to me. Carried them home and took them apart. Would take the lumber and build dog houses with them. Sold them all. The oak pallets that we recieved were also very small. Had a fire place and never bought oak firewood for two years.
