HUMANKIND......be both
Establish a colony of colony of mice in the boat. The snake will be well-fed and be happy & docile. Their antics will provide you with hours of amusment AND you will be able to report their activities to us. I cannot wait for your first post!
Especially a Texas beach like Matagorda on a warm spring day. If you see a hole in the sand...don't stick your hand in it, might be a rattlesnake den. Yikes!

this is how you do it.![]()
Description sounds kinda like a copperhead. Take a close look at the head, and if venomous it will be arrow-shaped with poison glands on the sides. If the head is round or straight it is likely a rat, water, or some other non-venomous variety. I would advocate trying to remove him and releasing, but if you're in doubt and the traps don't get him, a wooden bat or length of 2x4 will do less damage to the boat than a pellet gun or other projectiles.![]()
I would think the quickest way to find that snake is to take boat on nite fishing for crappie & try to be kinda quiet. While enjoying your fishing about every 15 or 30 minutes shine a flash lite about the boat to see if he still a crawling around. If he's still there he surely will show up after first hour or two!
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.....

Still no sign of the snake today. The boat is aluminum and has the angles in the hull that run the length of the boat/ He can get under the floor of the boat and go where ever. Tomorrow I am going to put some bleach in those angles and flush it will water. Bleach should burn enough, so if he is still in the boat he would have to come out in an open area. hopefully he is already gone.
If you see him again, shoot him with a .22lr, holes are cheap to patch with bubble gum. DO NOT use a 12 gauge, bubble gum won't patch that hole, might need some duct tape for a hole that large.
