In the 70's those motors were very common though not as popular as the water cooled motors cuz they were noisier. I had a 3 1/2, 5 and 7 1/2 at different times and they all did the job for me. They were made by Eska corporation which is also out of business I believe. Should you come on any parts listed under the Eska name they are the same part. Sears still carried what parts I needed at the time. A small engine mechanic that has been around a while should know those carbs and such well.
Go on Ebay. search for eskeman. he has all the parts you need. He will also furnish gratis, instructions.
Don, I replied yesterday with info on locating parts. been thinking about your problem and it is two fold. First remove the carb and remove the float. , shake float to ascertain if there is gasoline in the float. ( there should no. next place float in a container of water. (It should fl oat) next hold float under water and watch for bubbles(there should be none ) in my opinion you need a new needle and seat and a new fuel pump. The pump is red silicone an fits into the face of the carb. I have two of these motors a 7 1/2 and 15 Most sears motors hae a Tecumseh head and a Eska lower unit. Eska man wil be able to help you.
Stupid me . Thought I was being helpful. never looked at the date.
