I fell in love my sister's Dodge Ram 1500 4x4, but it was out of their budget when her fiancee threw a temper tantrum like a 5yo because he wanted one so badly. They ended up trading it in for something more family friendly and they can afford. Dodge is a bit out of my price range right now as well. But if I could I would get one in a heartbeat.
I ruled out the Nissan Frontier after comparing its gas mileage to the Tacoma, Canyon, and Colorado.
I pull a 16' pan fisher with an '08 4x4, LTZ, Z71, plus any other initials Chevy has. I am plumb spoiled with all of the creature comforts. Sure is nice to come of of the water after freezing all day and sit on a butt warmer.
I pulled the same boat with an S 10 for a while. I will never be undersized again.

08 f150 4x4 or 03 Expedition 4x4, I know both fords and our fusion just won’t cut it.:scratchhead
I will tell you the Expedition pulls much better than the truck. I guess due to having the tongue weight much closer to the axle or maybe the truck being much lighter in the rear? Both have the 5.4 Triton so get excellent fuel mileage. :help I would guess a smaller boat being pulled by a smaller SUV would work great.
I use an 05 4x4 expedition. It is my everything vehicle.
Have used Nissan, Chev and presently use Ford F150 to pull my 18 Ft. Does a good job.
Toyota 4runner, got 2 to choose from. Mine 07, my wifes 05. We like 4runners. I forgot my daughter has a 99 4runner.
