Default question for car dealers or car pros

I have been looking to buy a used truck and just can not make up my mind. I found a truck that I think might be a good deal but since I know nothing I thought I would see if there are any dealers here who can give me an opinion. They are asking 14,800 for the truck and I have them talked down to 13,800 and no lower. All the new ones like this I see listed are 25 and 26 thousand. I checked kbb and nada and they say value is around 16 thousand. Let me know what you think.

I think both are priced a bit high. Most items in the GMC are Standard. I would think for that money, you could find an extended cab. An extended cab is a wonderful item if not to keep certain items safe and dry. The mileage is good, but keep shopping and don't be in any hurry. Also, I would suggest finding a mechanic to give ANY vehicle a quick look before purchasing.

The '07 Chevy truck is definitely over priced for what you get. You might find the same truck with miles in the range of 7-9k if you keep looking.

You need to remember that in buying vehicles right now, it's a buyers market. If you find one you like, offer them a lowball price, make them come off more than they intend to. I tell them I'm going to buy a truck and I don't care who sells it to me as long as it has what I want, and the price is right.

The GMC sellar may do the deal knocking it down another $1,500. You won't know unless you try.

I bought my 1/2 ton ext Chevy brand new in '09, everything you mention above plus Factory Leather, pwr windows, locks, seats, mirrors, split heat/air, got them to toss in bed liner too. It's a low end LS series and sticker price was $32,550. By the time I was finished dealing, I left with the truck and NO trade in for $25,526. It took me 6 dealers, to get one that just wanted to make a sale regardless of his profit.

Reaper, I have been searching deals for trucks for a long time now. I have not found anything close really yet to either deal. The 08 model GMC I have priced new at several dealers with MSRP being 25 to 26 thousand. So they wont come down any mroe than about 3 grand leaving me at about 22 grand for a new one. The 08 is in excellent condition and almost like new for half the price almost. The 07 model I looked up at a few dealers and MSRP is over 30 thousand. So there again the price is half price. Both were asking more money but this is the lowest amounts I could talk them down. My other problem is I am wanting to buy a boat so I probably cant buy a new one. I do not know. I might visit some dealers today and see. My credit is bad due to getting screwed in a divorce so my interest will be too high to buy new and afford that big of a payment. I have looked a lot and have yet to really beat these deals, I have found a few close but not as good. Thanks for your input and if you see something that looks good please let me know.

Finance through a small local bank vs the car lot. That's where they make most of their money. Even if your credit is tainted, I think you might be amazed at how many banks would be willing to work with you. Stay away from major banks, go small/local.

Seeker you should always get a better rate at your credit union than from the bank. I disagree with what the other poster said I too have been looking a trucks and from what I have seen in Alabama, it is NOT a buyers market, used trucks are sky high right now. maybe we should go to OK to look for trucks LOL. good luck and I'll be waiting for the pic of your new to you truck with that new Lowe behind it !!
