    Default Probably a dumb question

I've seen on this forum a few times the reference to "trailering" in regards to tournaments and can't find thru a search what that means. I hate to be legal and be the top runner for the D.A.'s office  , but could someone tell me what it means? Thanks.

It means you are allowed to move your boat on the road during the tournament to another ramp to avoid long runs or rough water.

    Default Makes sense

Thanks a bunch CatFan. We're trying to start a crappie club here and I didn't want to be surprised and stupid to a question at a tournament, especially being the V.P. and one of the tourney directors .

We allow trailering in our club tournaments, but the rule is if you are trailering you cannot leave the ramp area until the other boats leave. And have to be back at ramp the same time everyone else is suppose to be.

    Exclamation Yeah Mo' ...

"trailering" has been allowed in the Spring Fling/Fall Brawl Crappie Tournament series ... for as long as they've been going on. Since our tournaments were not $$ oriented, and were held on Watts Bar; which is a sizable lake ... we allowed contestants to "put in" at ANY ramp on the lake - trailer to various parts of the lake (by road) during tournament hours. Contestants were "on their honor" to not launch/start fishing before the beginning time ... and just had to be at the "host site", for the weigh-in proceedings, at the ending time. This was done due to the lack of parking space at the "host site". It also allowed those with smaller boats/motors, to be able to access a majority of the lake (without having to motor by water). And since we allowed contestants to camp/stay at any facility they chose - again, due to lack of space at the host site - then trailer to any ramp, or even to the weigh-in ... it helped even the playing field, to some degree (as far as big, fast boats vs smaller. slower boats). To my knowledge, there were no major incidents or concerns connected with this practice. The only "negative" related to this practice, is the fact that a "live well check" could not be performed, prior to the tournament start.
Good luck with your club & tournaments !! Feel free to check out the old posts about our previous tournaments - and look over our rules/regs, and use or adopt any part of them for your own use. .......... luck2ya ...cp

    Default Thanks CP and TAE

We only have 2 possible lakes on our list that would qualify for being big enough to cause people undo travel or possible safety factors with some using small boats on wide open spaces. We will surely look into this on these lakes and any others of size we choose fish on. We are going to try 10 different waterways a year and hopefully it shouldn't come up much. We've gotten several copies of rules from different clubs all thru this forum and after several months of decideing what we wanted and would fit us, we've now got a set of our own that we think completely fits our needs by comparing their rules to what we needed. We would be lost as a goose had it not been for the great people on here that were willing to help us thru the past months of setting up the club. Thanks for the info, and rest assured we'll be asking more questions :D .
