My sister lives in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana and they had to evacuate yesterday to escape Rita. As it turns out, they had reservations in Fort Worth this weekend for some dog shows they were going to, so they at least had somewhere to go. They took their adult daughter and all their dogs along with them in two vehicles.
Their son and his family weren't able tomake connectiosn with thepalce they wanted to go to, so they met up with the rest of the family on the road and they al lstayed in the one room last night.
This is what has my Irish up - some piece of crap dirtbag cut the lock on their utility trailer hitch and stole it, along with all their important papers, wedding album, photos, insurance records, schematic of their house - everything.
So now, on top of having to worry about having a home and job to go back to, they have to worry about identity theft. I have a whole list of things I'd like to do to the bastard after hearing my big sister near tears. - Roberta

sorry to hear that. it's terrible. i'm so afraid that my mom's house will be broken into. she left for slidell, of all places, from lafayette to stay with her sister who, btw, stayed with her during katrina (they are both in their 70's). so now my mom's house sits alone.
be sure that you sister calls the dept of justice to report the theft, as well as make a police report. i am a victim of identify theft but due to the fast actions of my bank i was able to thwart any negative effects. if you go to the DOJ web page there is a packet that you can download. the sooner she does the better. maybe you could help her since she will not have access to the internet for a few days. i hope that their home, friends, and other family make it thru Rita.
Thanks. I've been in touch with their other daughter, who is a paralegal in Seattle. She has connections with someone in the Dallas PD, so she was trying to get something going on that angle.
Hope Slidell and your mom's home stay safe.

I don't think they were cockroaches but more like tumble-bugs! Hope they get their stuff back and mostly that all stay safe.
