Anybody know Onan generators?

I'm putting one on my pontoon, I picked this up at a yard sale, it's an Onan 2.8, it has what appears to be a wiring harness for a dash mount start/stop switch. Wires are red/orange/yellow/brown/black, anybody know what is what? Or where/how I can find this info? Also, how should I ground this unit when I install it...just to the generator (isolated from the toon frame), or also to the frame of the toon?

The last onan gen I saw was on a RV. I would start there. I would run a ground to the rails and tubes.go to onan.com/.

i was tol that a genirator nois would run the fish off . some one told me they wer fishing off their dock catching crappie and when a pontoon pulled up with a genirator running the fish quit bitting and when they left they came back . could have ben one of those noisey ones . i just git a couple of deep cyckle batteries . that will last as long as i wan`t to stay out . never run anything on the cranking battery .
i have herd if some catching fish with a genirator running . you should be able to go to onan site and fin the closest repair dealer . git the phone #and call . that is what i did when mine gave me some probablems on my motorhome
you shouldn`t need to ground it to the toon frame . it puts out 110 and the boat light and all are 12 volt . the lights arenot grounded to frame but if one did make contack it could do some damage . the wires you are speaking of is probabley goes to a controle pannel .

Thanks Papasage...the generator is for camping aboard, and for powering the battery charger mainly. I'll be keeping this boat at the lake, and there's no power available in the storage yard, or at the docks. It's overkill, but I've had this thing for a few years, and never used it for anything...might as well get some use out of it.

that sounds like a good deal . you use a battery and not the genirator for running the lights .when the battery starts going down then crank the genirator .

Ok...I figured out part of it. Yellow wire feeds positive for the start circuit, brown wire feeds positive for the stop circuit.
The biggie now is how to ground the 120v AC. I've been told to ground to an anode at the frame of the boat, and not to ground to the frame at all (just to the generator, isolated from the frame of the boat).

you dont need to ground to the boat it is grounded in the genirator . a genirator is supose to besat on the groung or anywhere . no wires hooks to antything except the powercord
