Between Mexico and the U.S.A we feed the World with Grains... the signs on the pumps say up to 10 % --- at 10 % for 10 trucks of fuel 1 is Ethanol.... Take .02 % from 100 Trucks and only TWO TRUCKs... A drop in the bucket, but every drop counts for making Diesel. The Refinery's add chemicals to get the Octane correct. Alcohol only reduces the Carbon Footprint. My Grandmother always had a small Can of Coal Oil -- when you stepped on a nail or cut from glass, she put Coal oil on the Wound to prevent Tetnius. also called Lock Jaw. Coal Oil would not burn the Skin but Kerosene would.. everyone had Coal Oil Lamps then the name was changed to Kerosene Lamps. For the last 50 Years you could not get one drop of Coal Oil. What would the World Be without Pop Corn or Grits !!!!

I have never understood why we burn our food to supplement gas. It was originally touted as a way to stretch our gas supply. It drove up the price of feed, and thus our food prices. Not to mention the damage it has done to engines, loss of Horsepower and fuel efficiency.

All I can say is FOL is right. DSL is cheaper to produce if you start with a low sulpher oil. He did not say cut ethanol production and hurt the farmers, he said quit adding it to gas and make more sanitizer. As far as low price, that helps those of us who did not lose jobs or income. It does not help the 1800 contractors Exxon laid off a couple weeks ago in BR. I think FOL also was making the point that truckers are keeping us fed and supplied , except for tp, but they are having to pay for dsl that cost more than gas. Larry, getting the sulpher out of it drives the price up some. I think I understood. I must also talk Larry. I hope gas goes back up to what it was, we were all buying it and it kept a lot more people employed. But I do take pleasure in watching Russia and the Saudi's price war and lose $35 to $45 dollars a barrel they could be making. If it were my oil I would pump less. A million barrels at $50 takes 2.5 million at $20 to make the same profit. Seems stupid to sell it so low. IMO it all ties together with the corona to ruin our economy. Not factual, but my opinion. Maybe driven by the party that gets paid the most from China. Okay, sorry I'll stop.

it is strictly political and ethanol production makes zero sense. but so many farm communities invested in these stupid ethanol plants that when you come to Iowa for many months to start run for president IF you arn't for E you have little chance of getting going. Easiest thing to do is BUY these plants from these communities and then scrap them all. Plenty of demand for corn that goes into them for food in world nowadays that this stupid adding E makes zero sense environmentally or any other way. Cracks me up that on the Crappie Masters one of their prime sponsors is corn growers so that they have to promote ethanol in boats which we all know is not good for them. but you do what you have to stay in bidness so can't blame mike.

As D said, the ultra low diesel requirements drove up refining costs. Also, I believe diesel is taxed about 5 times higher than gasoline.
As far as shutting down production, that is a doubled edge sword and a risky game. It would make sense for the U.S. to cease production and stock up on cheap oil from around the world. A lot companies would resort to furloughs and further cripple the economy though. Some companies (with deep pockets) will take this opportunity to complete shutdowns and repairs during a suppressed market. However, most companies have an extremely high debt ratio and must survive by selling maximum oil, in order to avoid bankruptcy and hostile takeovers by the companies with a more balanced portfolio.

Hostile takeovers means rich Chinese companies or individuals. I believe our president bought and stocked all the cheap oil we could store. La tax on gas 20.1 + 18.4 fed =total 38.4 cents per gallon on gas. DSL in La. 20.1 La. tax + 24.4 FED = 44.5 cents per gallon. In Tn. where I currently live 27.4 +18.4 = 45.8 on gas 28.4+24.4 = 52.8 on dsl. Tn. wins.
By the way the feds have not raised tax on fuel for 19 years. Dsl 2.13.9 gal and gas 1.36.9 around here. .

Was thinking 5 cents, not sure how I typed 5 times lol. Diesel would be a lot more expensive if that were the case. I'm glad they haven't raised taxes, it's sad to think that 33.4% of your gas price is for taxes.
Trump did buy up as much as he could, which I think is the right move, even though I work in the oilfield. This pandemic needs to improve before a demand will increase. If the world's reserves are full a lot of companies will go under, because too many are relying on selling a lot of cheap hydrocarbons to minimize losses. I don't mind the hostile takeovers or blame the companies, because most are a reflection of a struggling company's poor decisions during good times.
