I have seen the dutch bucket system before. I might build one this fall in my garage. I am going to try the deep water system this summer. I already have some tubs. Did you get your growing medium locally or did you order online?

Good to know. I am going to make my baskets out of Mardi Gras cups. They should work they are fluted at the top.
My garden looks hydroponic right now its pouring down in Lake Charles. My tomatoes were just recovering from the rains a week ago. I might ought to pull them and plant hyacinth.
I might plant some sacaulait too.

I feel for you Don. We've been a little luckier here in Houma. We've had our share but not like others. I'd say it's a little wetter than normal but it has been good for the garden and trees. We've had no floods. We have received 4" of rain in April, but March was much wetter with 8.70" of rain.
I planted my okra day before after soaking them for 24 hours. I checked yesterday and found one seed with a 1/2" root on it. So I'd say they are looking good. I hope I get a good stand.

I have a ditch cut to the road but its backed up. It will drain quick but when your water table is at ground level it takes a week to dry out.
Your garden looks really good considering the rain. We got three inches last night here. Not raining right now, though.
Your garden looks good. What variety of corn do you have there Don? Love fresh corn. Used to grow it myself but the raccoons would pick it as it became ripe for picking. Seems like they knew when it was time. They would climb the fence to get to it.
