Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. They are very much appreciated. So nice to have friends to grow old with. <3 Friday we spent the day in Baton Rouge and as you know, the highlights for Randy was Cabela's and the Led Zeppelin symphony. LOL Thought I would post a few pics from the birthday girl's perspective. We had a wonderful time and this is one for the record book.

The day started at Cabela's and I insisted we have something to eat while there. Here is the view from the grill.

Here is my pulled pork sammich and sweet potato fries. They put the smiley face on it! It was yummy.

While Randy was shopping, I looked at the fish. BTW he bought a rubbery net, gas stabilizer, bobbers, maple/praline syrup, fudge, and a birthday card for one of my obnoxious friends. LOL

After a 2 hour drive from Cabela's to the River Center (should have been 20 minutes but there was traffic problems. LOL Randy had a nice phone chat with Danny while we tried to maneuver around the tie ups.), we checked into the Hilton at the Capitol center. The hotel was originally called the Hidelberg and was built in 1927. It was a favorite of Huey P. Longs and he had a tunnel built from it to a hotel across the street so he could visit his mistress. It's reported to be haunted by him on the 10th floor where the ballroom is. They smell cigar smoke up there and it's a no smoking facility. The hotel was closed for approx. 25 years until Hilton bought it and renovated it in 2006. No ghosts in our room. It did have a fridge where we saved our fabulous leftovers from dinner.

On the way to dinner we walked past the old Capitol Building that was closed for repairs until the 19th. Saw a plaque that said the fence around it was built in 1850. Not sure about the building itself but can't wait to see the inside next time.

Dinner was at Stroubes Steak and Seafood. I give it a bijillion stars. We had calamari (the bread came with the meal) for starters. Randy had a ribeye with bernaise sauce and I had a pork porterhouse on gnocchi grits. Fantastic, we have leftovers for tonight. You know us old folks really can't eat much at one sitting but we do know how to graze.

So the evening was followed up with..........I know all you rockers have been waiting for this..... The Music of Led Zeppelin with Randy Jackson and the Baton Rouge Symphony. It was really, really great. I would go see it again. It is more special knowing Randy Jackson is 60 years old. I hope this link to my facebook page works. If not I'll find a way to share.

In summary, it was an awesome birthday shared with my best friend. Fishervet took good care of Taco, my old beagle boy who you will met in February. My Labbies were also taken good care of by another facility but someone is a bit gassy so I think some unapproved treats were involved. LOL It's back to the real world now where Randy is on a ladder, parts are on order for the heater, the price of oil is still tanking, and layoffs are looming. Chin up and carry on.
