A 16 foot bronze statue of Robert E. Lee stands atop a 60 foot marble column, which itself rises over granite slabs on a earthen mound. Four sets of stone staircases, aligned with the points of the compass, ascend the mound. Erected in 1884 in the city of New Orleans. An icon of that great, historic city. Jefferson Davis is being destroyed, as well as others. Streets will be re-named, etc. May I repeat - 1884. National news:
New Orleans votes to remove Confederate monuments - CNN.com
I saw this coming - you folks know I did. This is absolutely terrible. Reminds me of the words of George Orwell.

I can't believe the majority is bowing to the stupidity of a few!!! People that don't learn from history are bound to repeat it!
Looks to me like only one of them had any sense and knew this would not solve anything but cause more division!
"Council member Stacy Head cast the only vote against taking down the monuments, saying the action would create more division and not solve the city's real problems."
And why did only 7 people make this decision? This should have been put to a vote of the people! I want even tell you my feelings on Mitch, but not surprised that he headed this up!
Get ready for some of you, it will be a rough ride!

It is said every man has a breaking point. You ain't seen nothin' yet. Listen, learn & prepare. Of course I'm speaking of crappie limits.
I just want to say a couple things. IT DOES NOT CHANGE HISTORY. You can not undo what is done. Tear it down, it still happened. You can still honor the person without the statue.

How is the destroying of American historical sites that some find objectionable any different from ISIS and the Taliban destroying ancient religious and archaeological sites that they find objectionable? The press and certain political elements have a hissy fit over what's happening in the Near East but support the same thing here at home. I don't get it.

Hey, I'm not for the destruction of any historical sites that been up in our country for a hundred and some odd years. But I'm smelling politics here, and politics don't belong on Crappie.com. Political discussions always, always, always, always divide, and Crappie.com is here to unite. Did I say it divides!
I thought i like to add and subtract not divide![]()
