Oil-Less turkey fryers

My daughter and son in law would like one for Christmas. I know absolutely nothing about those. Saw in today's paper an Academy flyer a Char-Broil propane unit on sale at $99. How do those things work? To me, that's like eating turkey bacon. Anyway, before I dish out the cash, I would like some sort of insight on those. Thanks.

They actually do not fry them.....its really like a convection oven. The turkeys come out good though nice and moist. I like the electric model that made by MasterBuilt for Butterball.....its on sale at Academy too. Perfect temp control with electric thermostat.

I have one and love it.The birds come out real moist. I bought mine at Lowes on sale for $79 or $89. I can't remember which plus I paid $9 for a 3 year extended warranty no questions asked. You can go to youtube and they have a video.

Okay, the electrical one will work for him. Didn't know they exist. That's what I'll do. Will wheel by tomorrow at Academy and pick it up on the way home. Like to get everything done before December 1st. Will work nicely for him, that way he doesn't have to go outside. The fella doesn't even own a BBQ pit. A television junkie big time. I bought two of them (propane)a few years ago. Just as good as deep fried IMO and no oil to deal with.You are limited to 16# birds. I bought the shelves which allows me to fry chickens , ribs and such.

Randy, my son has one and we decided to try it on a big prime rib for a group of us that play golf at the beach in January. He got an 18 lb. rib from his butcher and we cooked it and it turned out really good. (First $300 piece of meat I've ever seen though, $18/lb)
He got it to fix turkey and it works well for that too. His is electric.

That's something. I wouldn't have thought they would be as good as deep fried. Also didn't think one can cook beef in those. Interesting.

Don't know Dwayne, she wasn't raised that way for sure. Always outside with us. She's happy now and that's what counts. Their marriage has been going strong for 15+ years now. Ann and her are tight, vacation together on lab rescue functions which I enjoy seeing them do. I think Thomas actually enjoys me ragging him (or at least expects it). He knows I am not the feel-good politically correct type. I cook for them (smoke and grill) a few times a year and they come out. I recall a couple of months ago after they left and went home, he called Ann and asked her if I was okay because I didn't give him a hard time. He's a good fella, but still a television junkie .

Hey as long as your daughter is happy and he is good to her, you can't ask for much more than that.
