It can stop raining now. Over 6" thus far in the past 24 hours. River up:

Family back over today later this afternoon as we have always done this time of year. Smoked ham, sweet potatoes, black eyed peas, cabbage, and homemade rum cake along with other goodies. Ann's raisin sauce for the ham will have me licking the plate before it's all over with.
Send that rain up my way! Same menu at my house, sans the raisin sauce which sounds interesting!!
And in SC my wife always makes "Good Luck Jambalaya" from a Southern Living recipe she saw 30 years ago. Got rice, blackeye peas, jalapenos, bloody mary mix and shrimp in it. Side of collards and corn bread too.
I went to the University today to help out some grad students that stayed around during the Christmas break. It's huge fun with those kids. Anyway, left to pick up lunch to bring back. Went to a deli and ordered a pastrami on rye. The cute girl there asked me if I wanted the bread toasted, as well as what kind of mustard I wanted, and even asked asked me if I wanted the sliced red onions on it. Haven't had a sandwich like that in over 20 years. Really enjoyed it to say the least.
Mercy it's cold. Wind blowing at 17 mph and raining. Currently a temp at 32. Looks like the ice is moving in:

Never mind the vectors (lines) drawn in on the map - I like fooling with such things. Yours truly doesn't care for this one bit. Believe me, I have lived and worked in the extremes over the years in various places. I received these toe warmers in my stocking this year. They work nicely indeed:

Santa knows, don't let anyone kid you otherwise :)
Randy, your Aggies spose to come to Columbia for a BB game tomorrow. Our weather is pretty shabby too, so they won't escape snow and ice if they can make the trip. We are on the edge of the snow/ice pattern so it could be anything from 0 to 4" here. Cold as heck Saturday and Sunday. Highs in the 30s.
I once boasted that I laugh at the cold. I humbly withdraw that statement. It's 17 degrees here with a wind chill of 8. I'm not laughing anymore.
