Space Station

By the way I just got a notification that it is visible tonight. Here is info:

Time: Sat Jun 20 9:56 PM, Visible: 3 min, Max Height: 51 degrees, Appears: WNW, Disappears: SSE

It varies depending on where you live, but most folks in the southeastern states should be able to see it. How about it "D" is it visible to you tonight??

I remember when Columbia went down, was living in Bryan/College Station at the time - huge news being in the close area. This thread also reminds me of when the engineering disaster called Skylab went down (controlled descent). The Australian government fined NASA $400 for littering. The fine was finally paid in 2009.

Hey, Ray! No notice in my email. It is weird sometimes. Last night said it was visible for 2 minutes. Came in from the NW clear as can be. Heading E. Thought I would see it across whole sky, and said to wife, that will last more than 2 minutes. But soon after it crossed about half the sky, it disappeared. Have seen that before, but usually it goes horizon to horizon. Speaking of the shuttle, one flew piggy back into Baton Rouge once. I worked in a plant not far from the airport. Climbed up several floors outside for a good look. Funny, could see people on the units all over the plant. Came right over me, and for our viewing pleasure(or some other reason lol) it circled around and passed again. Felt proud to be an American that day.People cheering far as you could see, even able to hear the cheering over the plant noise. Now no more space shuttles, says a lot about our leadership. That's all I will say about that, so I don't have to moderate myself!! lol

As most of yall know by now I never say anything political but D stirred me up when he reminded me that among the many things I dislike about Hussain Obama is the fact that he is the first president since Kennedy that can't put some one in orbit. It's down right shameful. Even ole dumb me know that most of todays technology sprang from Nasa and the space program.

Well i guess pappy is more appropriate, than crappy the other common goof up folks do to my handle but then again it pends on who ya ask. :-D

Back to the Space Station, just watched it come over. Always impressive to watch. Also interesting sky tonight as Venus and Jupiter are nearing each other(only to the eye, they are a looooong way apart) and are just above the crescent moon. The brightest planets and easy to see. Directly in line above them is the star Regulus. brightest star in the Leo constellation.
