Thanks for the input fellas. I guess spot lock and setting a heading can be helpful and lend an advantage for certain techniques. I follow Josh Gowan on FB and posed the same question to him. His response in short was that most top pros do and will stick to cable steer because of the exact and precise control. Power drives have more tendency to have a little over or under steer. The main areas a power drive would excel are long lining, pulling cranks and maybe a fast trolling.
And on another note I see that we've established the LA board is made up of a bunch of gubers.... :)
