Default The finger lake region of N.Y.

While up in New York we took a Saturday to tour the finger lake region just as the leaves began to change. We spent the day enjoying the sights and sampling local wines and assorted harvest goodies. Here is the picture filled trip report.

it is a beautiful area - back in the 70's, there was a little army base to the east of seneca lake, between routes 96 and 96a. you went right by it. i was there for 44 months. the summers were just awesome but the winters were really bad. it snowed almost everyday and when it didn't, the wind blew and it looked like it was snowing. the summers made it all worth while. seneca lake has big lake trout and northern pike. canandaigua lake held carp tournaments every year. the winner was determined by the most pounds, usually the team had hundreds of pounds total. watkins glen is at the very south of seneca lake.

very nice pictures and it brought back good memories. i urge everyone to visit the region at least once.
