Last Thursday Bruce took me to New Iberia.....there is a rookery filled with Roseate Spoonbills...we hadn't been there in a while......I wasn't disappointed.....it was a perfect day for picture taking, cloudy with a little drizzel......I know that everyone thinks I have a big lens, but I sure do wish I had a bigger one.....I'm hoping that I can get back after the babies are hatched....they are such strange looking birds....they can look very ugly in one position and absolutely beautiful in another.....but the color is so striking against all the green....guess you can tell that I love them......After we left that area, we drove to Lake Martin to see if any of the birds had come back.....we saw a few and one lone Blue Heron, another of my favorite birds.......so even if Bruce has had to wait for his prop to be fixed, he made sure that I'd get out for some good opportunities with the camera......and on another note our grandson, Nicholas graduated this Friday from High School.....so I got a few shots of him....
Anyway, here are two pictures......anyone who enjoys picture taking knows that it's addictive......just like crappie fishing!

I think that is the first time I have seen a rosette spoonbill rest in a tree. They are always on the ground by my house. Great pictures btw.

Great pics as usual, do you ever get over to Lake Martin in Breaux Bridge, there is a huge rookery and the roseates and great egret chicks are about 10 inches tall right now
Nice. What camera and lens setup do you have?
thanks..........yes, I did go to Lake Martin the same day......that's where the Blue Heron pic was taken.....I didn't see any roseates there though.....we didn't get into the water......only along that short drive.......are you able to get closer to the rookery by boat?.....if so I want to go......
