The D'Arbonne Lake Comm. Meeting last night
The Contractor working on the new Flood control gate system was good. There had been some trespassing problems at night and some vandalism. The gates will be made more Secure as a result. The alarm is in the Specs and in the State's recommendations so that it sounds before the gates open and the Comm accepted this recommendation. The new Alarm that will sound will be really LOUD and can be heard one mile. Testing the new gates as water was let in from the Coffer Dam revealed some leaks and the gates had to be adjusted for these leaks. The Coffer Dam is to be removed soon and the gates will be Operational. There will be a safety zone below the spillway, a no boat zone. There was a mention about the new law change on Crappie that was in an internal memo but this was not read as the subject was covered in the last meetings. Three people addressed the Commissioners. The topics: Boat ramps during drawdown, overcrowded parking at all the ramps, and the need for another Public ramp to reduce the NOWHERE TO PARK during the winter months. There was a thank you for the Potty at the 33 ramp last year, which led to another Potty to be placed at the Highway 2 dock this year. There was also much discussion about Catfish Doodling {hand grabbing} and Private Property. There are Regs in place already but recently homeowners have had trespassing problems that are making the Comm consider a 100 ft distance to all sea walls and docks and boathouses. There currently is a 50 foot distance but it appears not to be working well. They did pass a ruling that Noodlers must have written permission from the land owner with them if they are within the 50 ft and it has to be with them, not word of mouth. Enforcement will be stepped up. The Meeting was adjourned.

Reason: Larry's unusual sense of grammar!

When will the drawdown begin?

The Drawdown was last year. they said that they are every four years. The last one the Lake was lowered 5 ft to put in the new Gates but they do not plan to take it down that far in the future. ---- Thanks for the reply --- The limit is back to 50, I just hope people put back the tiny fish
