I've been here several years ago. It worked for me:

Vet when you cross the bridge and get on the island you can go straight and you come to a T intersection traffic light. Turn left and follow the main road to the east and you come to the big public ramp. it is right by the Ferry across from the State park right befor you get to Fort Gaines which is at at the end of the road. that is where we launched from when we stayed on Dauphin Island 2 summers ago.

When you get to the Tee where you have to go right or left there is no traffic light, just a three way stop.
The first launch you come to is billy goat hole. just past that on the left is another one called little billy goat hole.
both are decent ramps but can get very crowded on the weekends during summer months.

If you are going to fish the bay side there is another ramp that hardly ever gets crowded.
When you get to the three way stop go to the right, across from the public beach and one street over you will see
the gulf breeze motel, they have a ramp in the back, its free if you are staying there, cost $3 if you are not.
If you use this ramp when you leave the little dock go to the west to get out, ramp is on a canal, you can go to the east but there is some shallow water going out that way.

I launch there when i fish towards the west end of the island. There are a few rigs you can fish going out that way.
the west end can be good at times also, as you are headed west you will see katrina cut, it is filled in with rocks now.
I fish around the rocks and if the water on the gulf side is clear, i will anchor out there, east end of katrina cut, and walk across to gulf side, there is some bars along there, i have caught nice specks wade fishing these bars on top water mirror lures. look at it on google earth, you should be able to see katrina cut and the bars.
