Well we finally finished bailing yesterday at about 3. All the scattered showers mad for alot more work. Wound up having to fluff the hay 4 times on 3 different days. Ended up with about 80 bales. Just about 100 shy of what. We need. Gonna re cut this patch in a few weeks. Still have another 20 acres on another property to cut too. October 1st is the deadline. After that the farm is on its own. Hunting season is my hobby, cattle not so much. I'll post some pics later.

We irrigated back in West Texas from the Rio Grande. The county allotted water on certain days and a specified time period for each land owner. Once the gates were opened we had to continually keep the water moving through the property through our irrigation ditches, gates, etc. Hard work, I didn't have to go to school during those allotted time periods - the school district allowed it. What I remember the most is the dogs running through that water having big fun along with the nastiest leaches and eels you have ever seen. You had to scrape those big leaches off with a knife.
When I moved down here, I was like look at these guys. They just have to watch the rain. Enjoyed your post. Thanks.

17+1 on the front of the tractor. Only a few more trips like that and I'll be done. For this patch at least.

Nice, good job! Do you keep those out of the rain? I picked up two string alfalfa bales this morning. Ranch Outlet quit carrying the three string bales. Folks were complaining about they were too heavy - including myself. Just curious, do you grow/cut alfalfa? It has gotten expensive, my goats have become spoiled. They won't even touch the Timothy mix. Thanks for the post, enjoyed looking.

No we don't keep them out of the rain. We don't have the space for about 200 bailes. The squares we get aren't that great of hay. But our cows love it. We have a deal with a neighbor to get all the squares he doesn't want if we pick them up. We usually have about 80-100 of those a year they get stores in a shipping container.
