Default It don't get no better than fishin with good friends and family on LOP!

Fished 2/2 and 2/3 on LOP. Saturday started great. Caught 15 in less than 2 hours before the wind decided to throw waves over the bow and we decided to quit way too early. Sunday was the best! We caught 75 between the 3 of us along with 40 yellowbellies and a few bream to boot! Left before 2 p.m and started around 7:30 a.m. All caught in 25 - 31 feet of water. Just followed the edge of the creek for a distance of only 100 yards or so.

Nice catch, and purdy fish too! We drove past LOP last spring coming back from fishing at Lake Hugo in Southeast OK. Thought about going there sometime, is there a lot of fishing pressure there? And, do you know of any cabin rentals in the area? Thanks for posting, and love the pictures!

Did some of those fish have eggs in them? What's the water temp like? Just curious as to how much warmer the water is over there versus around here.

Randy, I have a friend that comes down from Illinois each year and he stays in Jefferson TX. Jefferson is a very nice little town with a lot to see. Interesting history there too.

Randy there is a state park on LOP near the spillway and a COE area that may have cabins both just off of Hwy 59 north of Jefferson, Mrs Ann will enjoy the town of Jefferson, like PPG said alot of history in that little town.

The lake is only 4 miles from historic Jefferson, TX, which has lots of beds and breakfasts. There's a couple of nice state parks on LOP.
Yes, there's lots of pressure, but most of the "pressure" doesn't amount to much. I.e., lots of boats, not lots of fishermen.
I've never stayed in any cabins, but I'd think there are lots of 'em since there are several marinas on the lake that have been there for many years.
I went last Sunday as well and had a great time. I didn't catch as big of fish as CWalt, nor did I catch them as fast. But LOP is about all the fun I can stand. My dad and I could have easily caught 100 crappie if legal--and I'm not much of a crappie fishermen. When the real crappie fishermen are catching 35 or 40 at Cypress, I'm struggling to catch 10 or 15.

CWalt63, thats some beauties. It sure is nice fishing in shorts this time of tear. Them poor fisherman up north wear so much clothing, it must be uncomfortable. Congrats on the catch and for the good time.
