    Default Humingbird

No, not one of my wife's bird pictures....just went to Cabellas and picked up a Hummingbird 596C HD DI fishfinder....West Marine had it for $50 cheaper and Cabellas matched the price......plus I had a Cabellas $20 off coupon....my old Lowrance 135 is getting where it is hard to see......now, just got to figure out how I am going to mount the transducer up front (it came with a transom mount).....been reading on CDC about some of the options.....the salesman promised me I would catch more fish than "jigrig"......how is that for a warrenty....LOL.....

If you didn't install the transducer yet, and if I remember correctly, Humminbird will exchange the transom mount for a trolling motor mount free of charge if there isn't a difference in price from one to the other, I think all you pay is shipping.. I did it with mine a few years ago. You send yours into them and they send you the replacement one, and it only took a little over a week to get it back.
They may not make a trolling motor transducer for that model, but you can call them and ask about the swap or maybe get the trolling motor mount to use with the transducer you have.

Thanks....not installed yet and I did read that in the instructions about swapping out...I have read about TM interference problems and might consider making a "drop over the side" mount up front....undecided right now....I definitely do not want to put it on the transom.....

I was going to buy a down image and the salesman told me not to mount it on the trolling motor. He said when you turn the motor the images overlap and clutter the screen. I would like one but don't want it on the transom and I have a aluminum boat so I can't mount it in the bottom of the boat..........

not yet....I decided to mount TD on the TM just to see what it does...I have read about the interference problems but just had to see and it does make a mess on the screen....but I was already prepared to make a mount off the the side similar to Meatgetter below...so, I am going to move it and keep my Lowrance 135 on the TM.....just got my parts for the mount and will have in service soon....I will try to post a picture.....also, even though the operation is pretty straight forward, I still need to read thru the manual...

I just got my 597ci hd di mounted on the trolling motor an have read just about everything on here I could find. I believe the interference is a problem on some variable speed trolling motors and HB has several options to fix the problem. One thing I did was to add a piece of 1/4" rubber underneath the transducer. I bought my trolling motor transducer adapter from bass pro shops where i got the fish finder. I think it was 30 bucks. I also saw a picture on here where a guy used the transom mount transducer holder by fitting it with a large hose clamp, it looked fine on his trolling motor.

Hey Bruce...I'm interested in that "catch more fish than Jig Rig" warranty!
