10/24/20 Lake Mackintosh
My brother & I hit Lake Mackintosh for the first time & did fairly well, considering we hadn't a clue about where to start. Motored around watching the Garmin near the boat launch area for a couple of hours, but never got into anything. Moved to the upper end of the lake & did alright on a fish attractor. Also caught a couple near the bottom, nowhere near any structure. So we drifted & trolled slowly picking up a few scattered fish that way. Hit a brush pile on our way out & they were biting there, yielding a few more keepers. All fish were caught on plastic jigs & small spoons. No monsters, but we were fish hungry so kept 17 & threw back as many smaller ones.
Lots & lots of boats on the water that day, and we found ourselves rocking way more than we like for a smaller lake. (Reminded me of fishing Belews!) I'm sure we'll go back again sometime as it's a beautiful place & we'll know where to begin next time. But High Rock is about the same distance from me, with no launch fees.
