The best way to tell is how they behave when you catch them. Especially at night. A white perch will always flare their gills and try to hurt you with their fins. White bass fight harder but are much calmer after they're caught.Quote:

We use to kill em below the dam at lookout on the catawba river but I don't even know if any are in norman anymore because of the perch. I feel like all I kept were at least 14" thoughQuote:

No worries. Next time you catch a smaller perch, hook it on a down rod on the opposite side of your boat out from the light.... and put it about a foot or two off the bottom. You never know how big a flat head you'll catch. They make great bait.Quote:
