My son has a hook 7, I have used it and can't find anything wrong with it, I have the hds 12 and a 7 on my boat and as far as 2d and down imaging, I think it is just about as good. I know it is for the money...

My old Lowrance LMS-520 (I think that's the model) finally quit on me. Looking to replace it and not wanting to spend a ton of money. Got Lowrance on the big boat at the beach so staying with that here.
Anyone use the Lowrance Hook 7 ? Price is right on it. If not that one, anything in that price range you'd suggest?
Mainly used for striper and crappie fishing on the lakes here.

I went striper fishing a while back with Uncle Remus and his friend Chuck down at Clarks hill. Chuck has the Hook 7 and it works for him. What I saw was a steady line of fish off the bottom. Chuck said that was stripers and sure enough that is all we caught. It's how you learn to read it and know what your looking at. I liked it for what I saw. I have the HDS 7 and HB 998C and the hook was as good as they are in 2D.![]()
I have the hook 9 on my pontoon. I had the helix 9 on my last boat and think I like it better. The hook 9 is a good unit, I am just use to the hummingbird. Would take $500 for the hook 9 with the map card if you are interested. No SI, just gps, di and sonar. It is less than 6 months old and I always take the head unit off and store inside after trips.

Got a deal I couldn't pass up on the Hook 7. Hope to try it out this weekend... just trying to decide whether to try for stripers or crappie.![]()
Stripers have been tough right now. If you figure them out, let me know what worked.
