I'm definitely not a pro but I have caught some jigging at night. Lighted docks are good to try but the most success I have had came from anchoring down and putting out lights just like minnow fishing. Just let your jig down to the bottom and wind it up painfully slow. When you think your moving too slow, slow down some more.

What about hanging the jig over board and letting it sit while you minnow fish to and jig it every once in a while like winter fishing over a school of crappie would that work

I'm sure that will catch some fish.
