Cape Fear River, Winter Fishing Help Needed


Happy New Year folks! It’s cold and nasty boy's.Don’t have much going on around the house now that college football season isover. (Go Dawgs) I’m thinking of doing a little winter fishing on the Cape FearRiver but I I’ve never done it before. I guess the BUG has bitten a little earlythis year. I’ve done a lot of catfishing in the summer time out of lock#3 butnever really hit the river this time of year. If anyone has experience winterfishing the river I would sure appreciate the help. I don’t even care what I’m fishing for, (crappie, bass cat' mermaids) I justneed to get out of the house.

I've had some very good days crappie fishing the Cape Fear during the winter. It seems to peak around Valentine's day, but those crappie can school up in large numbers. I fish further up than where you are, but there are guys on here that fish down your way.
