    Default Coast report 10-22 / 10-24

Fished the last 3 days at the beach on my skiff. weatherman missed the forecast each day. wind was puffing pretty hard, but just had to make it out.

10-22 arrived mid morning and fished the afternoon when things layed out a bit. 1 drum and 1 small 12lb king for our efforts before i headed in on a side of caution with a minor boat safety issue.

10-23 threw a new bilge pump on, and tightened a few bolts (it was that rough) and on the water by 9am. was nasty rough, but layed out nice by about noon. fished hard and didnt end up but with just 2 puppy drum, and 1 nice blackdrum. put a lot of miles on running and gunning. took my boat 8 miles offshore but the fish did not want to cooperate.

10-24 acted on a hot tip for some kingfish. was on the water at sunrise and spent some time looking for bait. fishing by 930 and first king in the boat by 1030. had a lull in the action, then at 1230 all hell broke loose with the kings sending an aerial attack. could not keep but 2 rods out, everytime i was sending a bait out it was getting picked off before it got 30yds behind the boat. i only reeled in 1 fish when we had a triple, other than that my passenger did the reeling. first time ever i had 2 fish air out on the same bait at the same time. and yes it was still a bit "sporty". A day like that will spoil you as it did this first timer. Not often you get on a hot bite like that on your own little piece of water. not a boat in the general zip code!!

once all said and done, we kept our 6 smallest one in the bag was 16lbs, biggest was 30.2lbs. released 4 and of course had a handful of misses and a biteoff, but for the most part the hookup ratio was pretty good. Left them biting at 3:00.

for those who want kings and fast action, now is the time if the weather allows you to get out!!

Later that same evening once all cleaned up, we mustard some energy to do a walk and stalk, and it paid off with a nice class of fish. excellent conclusion to the day/trip.

Where were you fishing Pete? Oak Island?

Just get him on, then we'll worry about getting him in!

Nice catch Pete. My brother is heading to Holden tomorrow. I was going to pull my carolina skiff down to do a little fishing with him, but wife had other plans. lol. Guess I will have to settle for a little Tillery action this weekend.

Take it from another striper fisherman- Blood on the deck is always a good thing. Little striper poo is a good sign too!!!!
