Coastal... Oak island 8-25 / 8-27
Late report, but after a long work streak, and being out of town after that for yearly training, I took off to my 2nd home for a few days to catch a few more inshore flatties. Sent an open invite, but no one was able to go. go figure!!
Got in a little late on the 25th, so ran the boat some, then once the sunset, i did some walk and gigging on a shallow flat. stuck 5 fish that were all cookie cutter 15 1/4 to 15 1/2 inches. there was also constant boiling on mullet going on and picked up 2 trout on topwater plugs. one was about 3 lbs, and the 2nd was the biggest ive ever caught probably going close to 5 lbs. unfortunatly no pics and both fish got a release.
The next morning i was out and about early at sunrise getting bait. Just knew it was going to be a good day when on the first throw with the cast net, i get a pile of mullet and a 18inch flounder.
Fished until it got too hot and brought her in. 5 keeper flounder, 5 spanish and went 1 for 2 on little sailfish on my boat on the beach. was fun on 10lb spinning gear.

On the last morning after getting bait, i fished a very nice piece of structure i found on the way in the day before. First drop got a 5+ lb flounder. shortly after a 4lber, then another. by about 1030AM i had my limit of flounder with a 3.5lb average, a couple of releases, and a few overslot drum. I am ITCHING to get back down there now to fish my new little slice of structure that i am sure no one knows about!!

One fish given to the neighbor for keeping an eye on the boats down there

If anyone is interested in fishing down there in October, i plan on being down there once, possibly twice more before flounder season closure. Kings should be on the list around that time as well.
