Lake Norman summery last few weeks
With the temps being below average the last few weeks, the fish have been in their pre-spawn pattern the last several weeks. quite unusual.
while everyone has been running to lake wateree to catch piles of fish and keeping quite, mysself and a select few have been doing the same enjoying some time on the lake catching some absoulte pigs for what norman has been known for. every day we have been out its been near double digit numbers of striper being caught per day. In 5 trips we have tallied up 54 striper and approx that many hybrids as well. at least 10 have been at or over 10 lbs, and 3 fish have been hosses weighing in at 13.5-14lbs.
Good news, as i am known to keep a pile of fish, i am proud to say that 49 of 54 fish are still swimming. Still have a pile of Wahoo and tuna in my freezer from a prior trip. This weekend is the time to get out boys and girls. once this heat wave hits, they will scatter.
Fish have been caught on every method. Live bait, and trolling Alabama rigs on flat lines and downriggers.
Those fishing the event on Thursday, good luck. Fishing is at its prime right now, and you should be able to get the rods bent for these heros.

Glad you put a bunch of them back. There will be no more Stripers stocked by NC Wildlife in Norman. There will only hybrid stocked from now on. I personally CAR all my striper/hybrid this time of year but I find nothing wrong with others keeping some for the frying pan. Hope to be back at it this weekend.
