Charles, my stepson Jonathan and myself went to the Swansboro area to do some trout fishing yesterday. We probably caught 30 or more spikes, but no keepers. Someone told me the water was too warm for the larger fish, but I know some have been caught. This was Charles first time fishing the "skinny" salt marsh area of NC and his first ever speckled trout, but I'm sure not his last. Jonathan has fished this area with me several times, but the first time in this area in late December. This may have been his first trout as well, but I have seen him catch some nice redfish in this same area. In the first picture you can barely see the outline of Swansboro.

Water was a shocking 65 and way too warm for this time of year. It was a beautiful day with the water being slick as glass most of the day. Back on fresh water tomorrow as we are planning to fish for crappie three days this week.
