    Default Norman 12/29 (Crappie fishing)

Tons of birds and a lot of folks out chasing stripers/hybrids. As Pete said, the fog was very thick - the worst I'd seen on Norman in my 45 years fishing there (granted, I rarely fished this time of year there). Caught 7 crappie 8-11", 10 spots with the largest 15", 8 perch, one 18" catfish. All were caught 15-20' deep in 20-30' of water. We didn't have a active bite, but certainly enough to keep things interesting. What was really nice was that the wind never got close to the 20 mph gusts that were in the forecast. It was like glass until probably 3 pm and had gotten up to probably 8 mph at 5pm when I took the boat out. I'd love to get together with another knowledgeable Norman crappie fisherman to learn how they catch them. I hear really big numbers sometimes (50-100), but 20 for me is a really good day. I know how to fish brush and docks, but that's just about it. Send me a message if you're interested. TW
