Lake Brandt Report

Decided to give Lake Brandt a try today. Thirty years ago, I caught a lot of 1 lb to 1 1/2 lb crappie out of this lake. Then it become over stocked and had stunted fish. I last tried crappie fishing about 10 years ago and all you could catch were the small stunted fish. I will probably wait another 10 years before trying again after today.
It was a rather cold start-27 degrees and warmed to around 38 degrees when I got on the water. Long line trolled. Caught 39 crappie. One 12 inch and the other 38 ranged from a "set of eyes" to about 6 to 7 inches. Still a very nice day on the water.

Caught some nice ones there many years ago but as you said it has really gone down hill.
