    Default Harris 11-6-15 Report

Took my daughter again last night and we fished from roughly 6 till 2. Ended the night with 55 crappie in the boat and kept 14 bigger ones for my dad and brother. The water is absolutely loaded with shad. They were all around my lights and I actually watched several crappie dart thru them chasing the shad. I dropped my minnow about 2 feet deep and they would nail it. While catching crappie I netted a few shad and cast them for cats. Ended up catching 7. Yet another awesome night.

Yeh. We're knocking Harris out. There were very few weekends I wasn't on Harris. I wish I kept track of how many times I went. So I've put in a lot of time and it's paying off big time. Even went again this afternoon. Took the entire family for a couple of hours. Fought the wind but was immediately rewarded with crappie. We caught a pile of 6-8" fish which is very nice to see and know that the smaller fish are up and coming. The 14 I did clean from Friday were really starting to show some egg sacks. I plan to hit Jordan starting in December once I put some venison in the freezer over the next couple of weeks. I really want to make a couple of the tourneys this year and not embarrass myself.
I'm going to try a little fun thing for 2016 that will really get my daughter involved. I'm going to keep track of how many crappie make it in the boat for the entire year. If I have another year like 2015 then it should really be fun.

I wonder when these crappie with eggs will be spawning - it seems early for spring to be developing them now. Can anyone advise?

Thanks for the edjumacation! I never knew they carried them that long. I'd bet with all that development going on they get pretty hungry.

I've read that the eggs get reabsorbed into the female and new ones come again when it's spawning time.
