Made it to Harris at dark yesterday and it was a good bit slower than it has been recently. I blame it on two things. Full moon and me. I was competing with a lot of light from the moon. Then the other problem was me. I was fishing way too deep last night and struggled for most of the night. Fished my normal technique and could only get 1 or 2 every so often. Then I noticed a ton of baitfish around my lights. That's when I started fishing literally 2-3' below my boat. That was the trick. Caught a few dozen and called it a night around midnight. At one point I could see a couple crappie shooting thru my lights chasing the bait roughly a foot deep. That was a first for me.
On my way out from the ramp I've never seen so many shad busting the water. They were all over the place. And the perch were doing the same thing all night.
