Can I ask how you guys fish on the bottom? I mean, are you using 1/# bell sinker, Carolina rig, or just split shot about an Aberdeen? I need help.
Also, fishing on the bottom, are you anchored?
!!!!!!!!!!!!Please ignore!!!!!!!!!!
I just realized I was hijacking this thread. Sorry ' bout that!

First time out since July, windy but found crappie in 16 feet of water over brush, fished jigs and minnows. Caught more on black headed jig and a twister tail half dark blue and black with lime speckled colored tail. Fished from noon to 4:30 brought 12 nice keepers home for the pan.

I was spider rigging. Some were rigged similiar to carolina style but with a fixed vs sliding weight about 1/2 oz. Some had the weights on the bottom and a dropper a few inches up from it. I would drop it to the bottom and give it a crank or two to stay just off of it and was creeping along with the trolling motor so I would have to let out more line/crank in more as the depth changed. If casting for them either count the lure down until it is just off the bottom before beginning the retreive or let it sink all the way and then retrieve.

To get to bottom fish I do similar to todobien. I usually tie about 1/2 oz egg sinker about 2 foot up from the bottom. Put a hook or jig on bottom then go a couple of feet above the weight and do a loop about 2-3 inches long and place another hook or jig. I usually then use my trolling motor to move around slowly with them just off the bottom.
