    Default Harris 10-9-15

Went to Harris again yesterday around 5:30. Went to the same point that I had been catching them before the big rain and they were still pretty much in the same area. Didn't really start catching decent size crappie until dark. Like last time, I started fishing 15-20' slow trolling under lights with minnows and just could not buy a bite. Started moving thru 10-12' of water and slammed them. Things really got going around 11 and by 2am I had flown thru 10+ dozen minnows. My catch was probably 60% white perch and 40% crappie. Gave up trying to keep up with 4 poles and went to 2 by the end of the night. Kept all perch and released all crappie.
Just a handful of boats out last night but I had one boat to set up shop within 15 yards of me. They past me like 3 times then finally came back and darn near tied off to my boat. I truly think they were going to spots that had boats fishing so they wouldn't have to look. I finished my minnows off shortly after and got out of there. Funny thing is I didn't see them catching anything either.
Since the rain the water was slightly cloudy and surface temp dropped 5 degrees. The high water has really broken that grass up and it was everywhere last night near the coves.

Good report hockey 86 sounds like a good night. I was going to Tillery Saturday night but with the rain and was asked to work so now I am going to Crane Creek Park in Union County Sunday a.m to do some trolling. Will let everyone know how I did.I have had another boat do the same thing to me. I was set up with my light out and catching fish about 30 feet off the bank when this guy pulls in between me and the bank. Puts out his anchors by throwing them off each end of his boat. Starts move stuff around in his boat loudly and then start casting for bass! Did not see him catch anything.

I understand what you are saying and I agree but what do you consider an adequae distance?

In a lake at with hundreds of miles of shore line there is no reason to be so close. I watched him ride by and he saw that I was catching fish and wanted to get in on it. If he had asked I would have told him to tie up with me and fish away.

Went I was a Jordan on Wednesday a guy came up right next to me and asked what kind of rig I was using then he anchored right in front me. He was so close we were using our normal voices to talk back and forth. The few hours we were next to each other I only saw him catch one fish

I don't have as much trouble with people fishing close as I do people speeding by really close. Once I was fishing about 40 feet off the bank and a "bass type" boat went between me and the bank at probably 40 MPH. He had 200yds on the other side of me.

I have no problem with people coming into the same general area because we might have the same honey hole. But there's just so much water there's really no reason to pile up. In the winter we stack'em up under the 64 bridge and that's pretty fun on occasion. You get involved in several good conversations and I've met several members from this board there. But generally I try to get by myself.

I have seen some pretty bad courtesy on Jordan from skiers and bass fishermen who think their 60k boat trumps my pontoon boat. It is only going to get worse now they are building massive subdivisions close to Harris. Harris and Jordan aren't massive lakes for the traffic coming it's way. Sad to see it, personally.

There's couple of bright spots though. Bass fisherman like morning time and ski boats like warm water. That's why I love evening/night fall/winter fishing. It's an awesome resource for us all to enjoy but it only takes one or two to ruin a great day out.
It's pretty crazy to see all the houses going in around Harris. It wasn't that long ago that you couldn't pay someone to live anywhere near a nuclear reactor. They could start using the steam and heat some houses.
