I'm ready for some fall fishin

Charles and I did some exploring on Jordan today to see if the lower water temp's have the crappie moving. One thing we saw is a very healthy shad population. I took some screen shots, but forgot to download them. We probably went into at least a dozen coves and loads of shad.
I was impressed with a couple of things today. We caught crappie in a number of different areas, which is a good sign. Charles caught the crappie below and was too large to fit into the green plastic measuring device. It weighed 1.44 pounds and was solid as a rock.
The other thing that I liked was the way the crappie slammed our bait. The lethargic fish of the summer are gone. I had a couple of fish that I thought might equal Charles's big one the way they hit, but ended up only 11 or 12 inches. Those crappie today were healthy, solid fish that we all love catching. I can officially say that my worries about the cold blast last February hurting the shad population are not true and we can look forward to a great Fall of fishing. Today's fish were caught on both minnows and jigs while fishing a number of different depths.
Wonder what Charles is doing on the shore with that crappie condo?
