We've been knocking them out on Harris the last few weeks. I decided to do a late nighter last night and caught enough to run out of minnows by 11pm. Started at 5pm with 11 dozen minnows. Caught some nice ones in the daylight hours in 16' of water. Once the sun went down we put the lights in the water and did a slow troll. Fished from 12' to 30' and caught fish everywhere at all depths. One of those nights where you couldn't go wrong anywhere (in this cove anyway). I haven't been keeping any but last night we released some that became floaters so we kept the ones that couldn't swim away. Anytime I deep hook a fish I usually cut the line and throw them back but still get a few that still die. Needless to say I know what's for dinner tomorrow.
We caught 4 or 5 that went slightly over 14 inches and a bunch at 10-11".
I've been throwing a cast net near the grass and catching all the shad I can handle in 2 or 3 throws. So I believe the shad population on Harris is more than abundant like Jordanlimit stated about Jordan Lake.
