    Default Jordan Lake/Bell Pier

Hi all, thinking about going to Jordan lake tomorrow or maybe tonight and fish around the pier, anyone know if the crappies are biting shallow or catching on the pier? I live in Greensboro and hate to drive far if nothing going on yet. Any information is appreciated.

I went in the morning and not a single bite around the pier. Only a few people fishing but they all left by 730am. Tried jigging and got skunk. I think the crappies hasn't come shallow yet, maybe another week.

Fish4fun, sorry you didn't catch anything at the pier in the morning. The bite has been on fire at night and lately the later it gets the better it gets. Folks come while it's light to get a favored spot at the rail or on the rocks. Some have been catching their limits. When the bite is on fire in the morning it's when spawning is at its peak. It's still early right now, but I've been filling my bucket. Good luck! Flatfoot

Nice to hear that are u catching them and thanks very much for the report. Fishing at night with lights is very rewarding at Jordan, but I live too far and hate driving at night. I like to jig for my crappies instead of using minnows that's why I like to go in the morning Instead of night. I can't wait til they spawn. Thanks again for the report and I will be heading down there again 1st of April.

Are they catching on minnows at night? That is what I think I'm reading from fish4fun's comment.

Fish4fun, folks do jig at night and do quite well, depending on the weather, their skill with jigs, color of the jgs, and whether the fish are ready for the jig at the time. So it's sometimes jigs, sometimes it's minnows. From my perspective, the minnows are better for me WHEN THE FISH BITE. Sometimes it's slow, but that's part of fishing. It's still early. But it'll just get better and better as April approaches. Folks come from all around --fifty, sixty miles away or more. Come while gas prices are still kinda low. Good luck! Flatfoot
