Badin , Falls , Junaluska , March 28-29 , 2015.
I couldn't sleep Friday after work , so I left home around 5:30 and tooled around town making my way to Falls. I arrived at 7:30 , and fished a steep dropoff about 25' from shore. I was using CBMIGP , perch , and minnows. I got one bite on the chicken about 15 minutes after I got it out there , but it didn't hook up. Checking the bait , I ended up trimming it due to the point being concealed mid cast. Tossed it back out , only to see my bobber disappear. I set the hook , and the fish came off. At this time , the wind started blowing , and eventually resulted in me leaving for Palmerville. I fished the canal for about an hour , but the upper portion was full of inblown vegetation. I left soonafter.
Sunday morning around 6:30 , I departed for Junaluska , hoping for a repeat of history , but expecting nothing due to temps in the teens upon arrival. Long story short , it became one of those trips where whatever you use for bait yields a fish , and I ended up leaving after an hour with 12 fish to find more minnows. I forgot it was Sunday , and the fact a lot of stores in remote places close , and I had to drive 40 miles not far from Fontana to get more minnows. For some reason , I opted away from fishing Fontana , but will head up there in 2 or 3 weeks. I arrived back around 90 minutes later , and continued catching perch and crappies , including a 11" crappie. Called it quits around 4:30 , and headed back. I caught 19 fish total , and released 9. The remainder will be given away to family and coworkers. This trip put the last one to shame , by far.
