    Default Greetings!

    Hello everyone.

My name is Anthony (or Tony... Never really cared either way). I'm not really new to the area, I've been around for a few years. I am however just getting back into fishing. I'm originally from MN. Grew up fishing quite a bit up there. Crappie and Walleye were always my favorite to fish for up there. Although there doesn't seem to be much for Walleye in this area. Unless you have the ablitly to travel around, and really have a boat to get away from the shore.

I had the benefit to move near Jordan Lake. Which is awesome. I hear there is some pretty good fishing around the lake itself. I recently found a nice area to walk to the northern hwy 751 bridge. I spent a few hours out there on 01/31 just casting around. I saw a few guys stop with their boats. Not sure if any of them are on here though. I didn't catch anything, but really I couldn't figure out how deep that water really was. I was having technical difficulties between weight on the lure end and the bobber staying above water. Can anyone recall how deep that is just under the bridge? Any help y'all can give me would be much appreciated. It's been a long time since i've had to fish from shore. It's really a new learning experience. I just don't like fishing from the piers that they put up. I'm not much for large crowds i guess...

Any tips y'all can give would be much appreciated. I'll be back out there Saturday or Sunday. Say hi if you see me, and Good Luck!

Welcome to the Crappie.com family. Best I recall, the water under the 751 bridge is about 9', give or take a little. I haven't been up there in a year, but I know the water under the bridge is a good bit deeper than out in the flats. I've caught some good fish up there during the spawn, so maybe you can get into some this Spring.

    Cool. Thank you JordanLimit.

Now I feel special... The bridge I was actually fishing under was the Farrington bridge near the boat launch place. I had to park nearby and walk a good ways across the rip rap to get there.
Does anyone have a link to a lake map? I've done a lot of searching for it online but all I could find was places to buy the map. Is there not a site that has a downloadable one?

Welcome from Shelby! Here's a hint about sinker to bobber ratio: you can try different combinations in your kitchen sink or a bucket. Next time you get to the lake, you'll already have that part figured out.

    The online viewable one:
    Navionics Webapp
just says "shallow" for that part. Same on my phone (a paid for version from same company). If you pan around, there is depth and detail for other parts.

That is awesome! Seriously thank you for that!

You guys are a great group. I really appreciate the help. After last weekend, I went to Bass pro and stocked up on a couple different jig heads and bodies. Thinking of tying up a couple different leader rigs to snap on and off to switch out. It seems best to use a float/slip bobber type setup for under the bridges out there.

Something bizarre going on with that web map though. It used not to allow you to hyperlink to specific points and zoom levels; now you can. But it looks like meters or something, not in feet anymore. Weird. They play tricks with free one.

It is in metric. There should be a button on the bottom right (I'm on my phone) to change to feet.
