Myself, my girlfriend, and another buddy decided to take a road trip yesterday and fish a lake other than Norman.
Was nice to have a change of scenery and try to pattern a lake we had to figure out from scratch.
within the first 10 minutes of setting the 8 rod leadcore spread boom, fish on! nice one of about 9 lbs. Man thought it was gonna be a damn good day. WRONG.
picked away at them. one here, one there. MANNN was it cold. the weatherman called for a high of 48. pretty sure it was 48 first thing in the morning only to have the temps drop to the mid 30's around lunchtime. I watched the fish at first light on the depth finder start near the surface at 5-15ft drop all the way down to the 20-40 ft range by mid day. i knew we would have to work hard for them
I guess we cant complain. ended the day with 12 stripers, (a pair of 8-9 lbers, the others 18-22 inch class) and 4 cats. Could have been far worse. the downrigger rods were the hot ones after lunchtime.
