    Default High Rock 10-04-14

We got on the water about 3:30 P.M. water was very choppy and white capping on the main lake, the water temp was 72.3, color was typical lake color. due to high winds we went to a sheltered cove where we caught some 12.3 and 11.5 crappie. My grandson got the largest a 12.3 chunk. we moved and anchored and caught several more in the 9.5 to 8.75 range. We kept about 10 for a good meal for my daughter and family. we quit about 8:30 and tackled the main lake again finally arriving at Wildlife on 8 about 1:00 AM. main motor died and we had to use the trolling motor to get back to wildlife. All in all a great experience and my grandson gets to brag that he caught a bigger fish than me.

That is a good report but I would like to know if you caught many small crappie. This year it seems that the HR crappie have finally started to grow up. If you don't mind I would like to know if most were keepers or not. This is for research and nothing else.

This trip i only caught a few less than 7.5 inches most were 8.5 to larger i put back several 8.5 inch fish. we had larger than normal minnows and caught bigger fish, not the size or quantity from several years ago, but bigger than last year.

Yadkin if it helps there were bout 20 limits of 7 fish weighed in Saturday. Of the 140 there were 20 or so over a pound and 40 +/- half pound to pound and the rest down to 8"ers. Biggest was 1.62.
