What is the latest from Jessica on the crappie in Jordan Lake? I left my E-Mail address back in June for a final report on the Survey in 2013; however, I heard nothing!

Haven't talked to her since last Spring. I'll try to reach out to her. I'm hearing from others that certain parts of the lake has shad and other parts are dead water. Last winter's extreme cold and all the perch may have done more damage to the crappie population than we thought.

I remember conversation about the lack of widespread shad kills last year. But, if the shad population did take a hit, wouldn't that result in greater crappie yields due to lack of forage? I haven't seen a lot of solid reports that would indicate a great crappie population in Jordan. My personal guess is that the numbers have been devastated by the white perch explosion. This is supported by the relaxation of the creel rules on white perch ( without much fanfare, I might add). Whomever dumped these creatures into Jordan has guaranteed the death of a once premier crappie lake. Just my 2.

The last (2) trips to Jordan, we have not caught any White Perch nor have we seen any "schooling".

Well, that could mean my theory is full of it, and that wouldn't bother me a bit! Hopefully the crappie survey report will offer more positive information.

I've not fished above 64 in months, but I am curious about the scattered shad population below 64. Like Monk said, Parker's creek is full of shad and down towards the S-curves there are some. It seems odd that some coves and areas have shad schooled up on top of the water and others don't. As more of us get back on the water the next few weeks, let's see what others have to report.
