I tried from shore at the ramp , and had a perch for my efforts. However , I only stayed for a few hours , and was using a spotlight aimed into the water with rocks. If you are in a boat , you may do a lot better.

I have always been told crappie are more concentrated on Catawba side. Linville side is supposed to be colder water.

I grew up on lake james and used to catch lots of crappie on linville side and mills creek but the crappie population in the lake is not good anymore, there is crappie on linville but the majority of the crappie is on catawba side the lake really needs to be stocked but you know how that goes

I've know guy that's fished and Kepts records on what he and friend has caught on that lake for 40yrs and he said the fishing has been declining bad for years. The white perch has even hurt it even more in the last 5 or so. He fishes almost everyday and know's it. Crappie, walleye and smallmouth. He would always measure and release the bigger walleye.
Why does NC not stock like SC and TN?
