    Default 4/24 hickory

went out this evening after work for a few hours. tried trolling for an hour or so, but didn't really mark any fish to speak of and only caught a couple, and they were near the banks and brush...so reeled em in and went to a new spot I been wanting to try.

Got to the new spot and started casting jigs...first cast turned out a nice 15" crappie. So we were on!

We caught a lot of blue gills and a nice mess of crappie.

Here's some of the larger ones my son caught.

The smallest one there was 10"

And she's pretty happy about her first minnow-less crappie...also a big one...

She also caught the ugliest crappie/ blue gill hybrid looking fish that I've ever seen. I didn't think to take a picture, but has anyone ever seen something like that? It was about 8" long, body like a crappie, soft with a large mouth, but had a blue dot on its gills. The fish was a sort of mustard green color....very weird. Boy a picture would help, wouldn't it!

The fish is a Warmouth. Caught a bunch last week right on the bank. Most I'd caught ever. Here's a link with images. https://www.google.com/search?q=warm...tm%3B500%3B251
